Abstract

This paper systematically studies the curriculum design and practice of“Understanding Earthquakes and Cherishing Life”in primary and secondary schools in Jilin City. Based on the concept of quality education and the requirements of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction policies, a complete curriculum system was constructed, comprising four modules: earthquake understanding, earthquake avoidance methods, knowledge quizzes, and evacuation drills. The study found that combining quality education concepts with earthquake knowledge and using virtual reality and other technologies to assist teaching can effectively improve students' earthquake knowledge and emergency avoidance capabilities. Furthermore, establishing an eff ectiveness evaluation system that combines knowledge testing and evacuation drills helps in the continuous optimization of the curriculum. This paper also proposes a long-term mechanism for cooperation between earthquake agencies and schools, providing practical guidance for the normalization of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction science education.
