Abstract

The cultivation of students’comprehensive thinking ability is one of the core tasks in geography education. Creating appropriate situations in geography teaching can improve students’comprehensive thinking ability. This article takes“soil and water conservation in the Loess Plateau”as an example, creates a learning situation based on the hierarchical characteristics of comprehensive thinking, and guides students to perceive the gradual enrichment of geographical elements and the spatio-temporal evolution process of geographical phenomena in the process of hierarchical progressive exploration. It also conducts comparative teaching with southern low mountainous areas, southern rocky desertifi cation areas, and northern agricultural and pastoral transitional areas, elaborating on how to cultivate students’ability to comprehensively analyze geographical problems from the three dimensions of elements, time and space, and place in specific situations, so as to promote the development of students’comprehensive thinking.
