Abstract

Geographers possess a unique spirit of scientists. Using NVivo14 qualitative analysis software as a tool, this study conducted a textual analysis of 70 documents detailing the achievements of geographers. The analysis reveals the following dimensions of scientifi c spirit refl ected in these texts: the spirit of fi eld verifi cation, the spirit of exploration and innovation, the spirit of dedicated research, the spirit of collaborative problem-solving, the spirit of serving the nation and benefi ting the people, and the spirit of mentoring and passing on knowledge. Integrating these dimensions into geography education can foster students’scientifi c spirit through methods such as narrating scientists' stories, simulating scientists’ inquiry processes, and refl ecting on the journey of geographical practice.
