Abstract

The cultivation of comprehensive thinking enables the cognitive leap from knowledge accumulation to solving complex real-world problems, and it represents a holistic, systematic and dynamic mode of thinking. Its cultivation must follow the principle of“spiral ascent and step-by-step progression”. Based on the developmental characteristics of comprehensive thinking among students in the three grades of high school, this paper takes Exploring the Lancang-Mekong River Basin as a unifi ed teaching context, designs three sequential teaching modules for freshmen, sophomores and seniors of high school, and proposes holistically constructed teaching strategies for the advanced cultivation of geographical comprehensive thinking across all grade levels. It is expected to provide a practical reference for frontline geography teachers to carry out cross-grade cultivation of students’geographical comprehensive thinking.
