Abstract
The national map represents the territory within which a country exercises sovereignty and jurisdiction, and it
also refers to the map that refl ects the national territory.Territorial identity is manifested in citizens' rational cognition of the
territory, emotional attachment and sovereignty protection. As a key piece of evidence for sovereign states to confi rm their
territorial scope, a symbolic representation for shaping territorial awareness, and an effective carrier for constructing the
national territorial image, the national map holds multiple values for the construction of territorial identity. Territorial identity
education is the inherent mission of middle school geography curriculum, rather than a new thematic education. To cultivate
students' territorial identity based on the "power of the national map", it is necessary to guide them to shape a complete
territorial awareness at the rational cognitive level, generate a sense of belonging to the territory at the subjective emotional
level, and consciously practice territorial identity at the subjective behavioral level.
