Abstract

Through in-depth interviews with 12 outstanding middle school geography teachers in Lianyungang City, four core elements of their professional growth have been distilled, namely: fi rm professional belief and sustained internal drive, solid subject-matter literacy and excellent instructional skills, supportive professional communities and key external opportunities, and ongoing teaching reflection with active innovative practice. Based on this, a“Four-in-One”Growth Model for the professional development of outstanding geography teachers was constructed, forming a corresponding teacher professional development support system. This system focuses on strengthening teachers’internal drive, optimizing the support mechanisms of professional communities, and encouraging teaching refl ection and innovation. The author carried out regional practice for teachers’professional development in Lianyungang and applied and tested the“Four-in-One”Growth Model for the professional development of outstanding geography teachers in the practice.
