Abstract
By organizing and analyzing the geography education papers reprinted in the 2025 Reprinted Periodicals of
Secondary School History and Geography Teaching and Learning, it is found that the research hotspots in China's geography
education involve the nature and content of the geography curriculum, the characteristics and functions of the new junior
high school geography textbook compilation, the logic of geography teaching guided by geographical thought, geography
teaching that promotes overall understanding, the development and implementation strategies of geographical practical
teaching resources, the empowerment of geography teaching by intelligent technologies, the design and implementation
of interdisciplinary geography thematic learning activities, the cultivation of students' scientific thinking and cartographic
concepts, the assessment of core competencies in geography, and the professional development of geography teachers. In the
future, research should focus on the integrated development of educational and technological talents in geography education,
the major changes in the new geography curriculum standards and their teaching directions, the functions and teaching
implementation of the complete set of new junior high school geography textbooks, the teaching path of geography thematic
content based on geographical thought, and the normative use of generative artifi cial intelligence in geography teaching.
