Abstract

Field-based geographic practice constitutes a pivotal component in cultivating comprehensive and innovative talent. Drawing on the College of Geography and Environmental Science at Northwest Normal University, this study leverages the distinctive geographical features of the Hexi Corridor to construct an Oasis Model of geographic fi eld practice tailored to local universities in the arid regions of Northwest China. Serving as a top-level design framework for geographic practice, this model establishes a Triple Integration foundation encompassing resource incorporation, disciplinary convergence, and competency integration, while reconstructing a Triple Construction support system comprising a curriculum chain theoretical framework, a digital learning infrastructure, and a diversified closed-loop evaluation mechanism. Through integrated geoscientifi c practice, the model enables students to progress from observational cognition to comprehensive analysis and ultimately to innovative application, achieving a marked elevation in practical competence. The study further proposes an end-to-end implementation framework encompassing preparation, implementation, and post-implementation evaluation and refi nement. It emphasizes interdisciplinary integration and multi-stakeholder collaboration while strengthening fi eld practice through textbook development and digital learning resources, providing a transferable model for reforming field practice teaching at comparable local universities.
